Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention
The Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention (CASP) was launched in 1985 by a group who saw the need to provide information and resources to communities to reduce the suicide rate and minimize the harmful consequences of suicide-related thoughts and behaviours. Like many others, CASP envisions a world in which people enjoy an optimal quality of life, are long-living, socially responsible, and optimistic about the future.
CASP envisions a Canada without Suicide and is a pan-Canadian organization that provides advocacy, communication, and resources on suicide prevention and life promotion.
Board of Directors
We are honoured to introduce our Board of Directors, who volunteer their valuable experience, expertise and time out of their commitment to suicide prevention and life promotion. CASP is very blessed to have such passionate and knowledgeable individuals steering our organization and trailblazing a path towards a Canada without suicide.
Team
CASP is a virtual organization with staff located across the country and working remotely. We are a small but mighty team that helps the organization strive to meet its mandate of a Canada without suicide.
History
The seeds of CASP were planted over 35 years ago when a group of passionate individuals came together in efforts to act as a stand alone organization and national resource to encourage all communities, governments and organizations across Canada in the name of suicide prevention and life promotion.
Advocacy
CASP not only advocates for individuals struggling with suicide-related thoughts and behaviours, but we also advocate for additional resources, supports, funding and understanding from various individuals, groups, organizations and all levels of government on mental health and quality of life issues.
